When he connects the Samsung E574 camera via the supplied usb cable it recognizes his device and downloads the appropriate drivers. However, whenever he connects the Samsung Galaxy Ace mobile phone via its supplied usb cable, the pc doesn’t even recognize that anything has been plugged in. Apparently, this has always been the case since he bought the phone 12 months ago. Normally I would suspect that the usb cable supplied with the mobile phone to be a faulty one. However, when I attempt to connect the mobile phone into my pc (using the same cable), which is an Acer laptop running Windows Vista, it recognizes that the phone has been connected.
Rather than downloading drivers automatically, it then displays a dialogue box quoting “Windows needs to install driver software for your CDC Abstract Control Model (ACM)”. It then shows several options including “Locate and install driver software (recommended)”. Therefore, the 2 queries that I have are as follows:- 1) What is wrong my friend’s Windows 7 pc why it doesn’t even recognize that the device has been plugged in at all. I have spoken to my friend who said that he popped into see the retailer and they thought that the usb cable might be faulty and so they have replaced it. I'm not convinced that it is just down to a faulty cable because my own pc (which is Vista rather than Windows 7) recognised that the hardware had been connected to it. However, my friend has not got back to me to say that he is still experiencing issues. Therefore, I will suggest your fix if I hear negative news back from him regarding his new cable. The retailer even suggested that they may replace the phone too. Once again, many thanks.
