It still has the things that to me are the Suikoden feel - castle-building, politics, strategy battles and hints of a larger picture. It's still a 'martial epic' to borrow the term used to describe the novels that inspired Suikoden, but the choice of main characters is awful (90% 16-year-olds, which I thought was lame even when I was 16) and as a result it takes longer to reach the high points of the story. As the others said - Go in not expecting much and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Go in expecting Suikoden 6 and you'll be disappointed. I'm a huge Suikoden fan. I have all the games.
